ABOUT AMY HARRIS

After 25 years working at institutional theaters, I began Amy Harris Consulting in 2019. I strive to support organizations that focus on creating bold new work while partnering with their communities to ensure the arts are are accessible to all.

A native of Minnesota, I've worked as an administrator, teaching artist, and grant writer from coast to coast. A varied career has afforded me the opportunity to work in New York City for two decades, most recently as the Director of Education and Engagement at Primary Stages and the Assistant Education Director at Manhattan Theatre Club. I have also held positions at Seattle Children’s Theatre and Book-It Repertory Theatre in Seattle, and The Shakespeare Theatre and Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, D.C.

I have specialized in theater education, community engagement, and workforce development. I have served as both a panelist and moderator discussing workforce development programs at ART/NY, NYU, The American Theatre Wing, and on college campuses along the East Coast. I also proudly serve as a Board Member for the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable and have helped plan the annual Face to Face Conference for the past 15 years.

I hold a BA in Performing Arts from Washington University in St. Louis and an MA in Theatre Education from New York University.

You have a special gift for grant writing. We have worked with many grant writers in the past and you have had the most consistent success for us! And you are lovely to work with!

Amy was tremendously helpful in our MTAC process. Her insights and expertise were invaluable. Amy's detail-oriented review and suggestions for our proposed programs provided much appreciated clarity and direction.

Great news - the client received $5,000 from the Community Foundation!  Many thanks for all of your hard work in putting the application together. This grant is a huge deal, and they could not have done it without you.

It was a pleasure to work with you [on the MTAC application]. You were very well organized and a great communicator. A very straight forward collaborative experience.
